US audio magazine Stereophile’s annual Product of the Year Awards recognise a select handful of the world’s finest audio components. Among them is German brand MBL’s unique and pioneering Radialstrahler 120 omni-directional loudspeaker.

Stereophile subjects all products reviewed throughout the year to “a thorough evaluation over a period of weeks or months”, culminating in a review that “documents what’s almost certainly the most thorough evaluation that product will receive outside the manufacturer’s development lab.” Add to this the fact that the magazine only reviews products it believes will have a decent shot at being among the best, and also the fact that, of all products reviewed during the year, only a very small handful make it into the annual Product of the Year Awards – then you have an idea of the calibre of the selected award-winners.
