“Hi-Fi Choice Recommended”: Neville Roberts enjoys Furutech’s new high-end CF-601M and CF-602F NCF XLR connectors

Furutech’s new top-of-range CF-601M and CF-602F NCF XLR connectors feature the company’s own Nano-Crystal Formula (NCF), an innovative anti-static and anti-resonance material designed to reduce noise and improve imaging and soundstaging.

Furutech’s proprietary Nano-Crystal Formula (NCF) is a special crystalline material that generates negative ions to reduce static charges and also converts thermal energy into far infrared. Nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder are also added to provide further ‘piezoelectric effect’ damping properties.

The bodies of the CF-601M male and CF-602F female XLR connectors are a one-piece rhodium-plated pure copper construction, while their housing is a multi-layered design made from a hybrid of NCF and 3K silver carbon fibre layered onto a nonmagnetic stainless-steel shell. A specially engineered set-screw construction ensures firm contact between the connector and conductor.

In the CF-601M male XLR connector, NCF is also injected into the hollow conductor pins. The CF-602F female connector has a chrome-plated, brass stamped inner housing, NCF material damping clips and a special resonance damping composite release button that has been formed with stainless steel powder and vibration-resistant metal powder.

All metal parts have been subjected to Furutech’s two-stage Alpha’ cryogenic and demagnetization process to enhance electrical conductivity.

“Both plugs are beautifully made and work a treat when hooked up to my Studer A810 tape deck,” writes Roberts. “ Using them with a high-quality balanced interconnect cable, they make an excellent connection to my equipment.”

Neville Roberts’ review is published in the October issue of Hi-Fi Choice.
