Kerr Acoustic wins a third Product of the Year Award in Scandinavian press for K200 loudspeaker

A mere two years after launching into the Scandinavian marketplace, British company Kerr Acoustic has won its third Product of the Year Award from Norwegian audio magazine Stereo Pluss. Following last year’s Awards for the K300 and K320 models, this year it’s the turn of the new K200 standmount.

Jes Kerr, founder and designer of Kerr Acoustic, is on a mission to “change high-resolution audio reproduction forever.” Kerr initially launched his company to create cutting-edge loudspeakers for professional music studios, before seeking to equally make his mark in audiophile home audio.

The response at hi-fi shows and in press reviews has been clear, both in the UK and beyond. Upon exporting to Scandinavia, Kerr Acoustic earned two Product of the Year Awards from Norway’s Stereo Pluss within a year of launching to market, for the K300 two-way standmount and the K320 two-way floorstander in 2022-23.

Now, in 2023-24, it’s the turn of the new K200 three-way standmount, designed for both the home market and professional use, and launched just a year ago. Like all of the Kerr Acoustic range, it promises professional-level performance for discerning home listeners. Featuring many of the same technologies as the company’s top-of-range K100 model, it delivers a surprisingly large proportion of the K100’s performance, but in a format that’s more manageable in a wider range of spaces.

“The first thing you notice when you lift Kerr Acoustics speakers out of their shipping boxes is the gorgeous level of detail on the cabinets. This is British craftsmanship at its best,” writes Stereo Pluss.

Kerr Acoustic loudspeakers feature a combination of drivers that’s rare in both home and professional audio, and the K200 is no exception. At the bottom end is a brand new 10-inch Radial bass driver from Dorset-based Volt, which is married with a Volt 3-inch, low-distortion domed fabric mid-range driver (“the holy grail” says Stereo Pluss), topped with a 60mm true ribbon tweeter.

This singular combintion, of exceptional quality of cabinet construction combined with Kerr’s cutting-edge driver technology, allows for uncoloured and vivid musical playback at all listening levels.

“Bass is presented exactly and precisely as it was recorded in the studio with wonderful texture and raw timing,” note reviewers. The midrange is “exquisite” and, in combination with “such precise and controlled bass” sounds “incredible”.
