PRESS RELEASE: Dan Clark Audio’s flagship Ether 2 headphone is known for feeling as good as it sounds – and now, it does three times more so.
The Ether 2 is Dan Clark Audio’s top-of-range open-back planar magnetic headphone. Launched in late 2018, it has earned a worldwide fan base – and a selection of awards – for its stunningly smooth, detailed and lifelike sound, as well as its remarkable comfort, a hallmark of Dan Clark designs. Weighing in at just 290g, the Ether 2 is incredibly light for an all-metal high-performance headphone, thanks to its construction in titanium, aluminium, and carbon fibre.
Three in one: the new Ether 2 system package
To date, the Ether 2 has been offered with one of three different ear pads (original, perforated and microfibre suede), each offering a unique sound and comfort experience, allowing customers to tailor their purchase to suit personal preferences.
Now, the Ether 2 is being offered as a ‘system package’ which includes all three ear pads. So, rather than buying just one world class reference headphone, customers are effectively getting three, each with its own distinct ‘voice’ and fit.
Ear pads offer a subtle but influential transition as sound travels from driver to ear. Now, you can easily peel off the Ether 2’s pads and swap them over any time. If a particular recording is best served by a specific set of pads, or you’re in the mood for a particular type of sonic signature – say, that extra bit of bass depth, a more forward midrange, a stronger focus on space and openness, or tighter control – no problem.
For current Ether 2 owners wishing to try out the new system, Dan Clark is offering a package of additional ear pads at a reduced price.
“The Ether line of headphones is our ultimate expression of our love of music,” says the brand. “Built with cost-no-object construction, they represent our most advanced mechanical, acoustical and ergonomic headphone designed.”
To create the Ether 2, Dan Clark’s team made a “deep-dive” into all aspects of headphone design and “went right back to the proverbial blank sheet of paper,” says the brand. The result is incredible detail, fast, tight bass and liquid mids, culminating in one of the most organic musical sounds you will hear from an audiophile headphone.
