British brand Exposure Electronics has long been renowned for creating high-performance audio components with involving musical reality and an affordable price tag.
Hi-Fi World reviewer Paul Rigby discovered the joys of Miyajima’s mono cartridges back in 2014, penning rave reviews of the Japanese artisan brand’s Kotetu and Zero models.
But things become rather more competitive when it comes to stereo, as Rigby points out in his recent review of Miyajima’s Takumi stereo cartridge. “Would Miyajima reveal itself to be only a one-trick mono pony,” he wondered.
Each year, three of the UK’s leading premium AV magazines – Hi-Fi Choice, Home Cinema Choice and Hi-Fi News & Record Review – put their expert heads together to single out the best available AV products currently on the market.
Collectively, the three publications test and review more hi-fi, TV and home theatre equipment than any other UK organization and the Awards are informed by this pool of experience.
Always a highlight in the consumer tech calendar, the annual What Hi-Fi? Awards showcase the best home entertainment products in the world, spanning a range of prices to suit every budget.
‘Turntable of the year’ is always a hotly contested category and in 2015 the Clearaudio Concept once again scooped the ‘Best turntable’ award in the £800+ price range – making this the Concept’s fifth year as a What Hi-Fi? winner.

The Concept’s concept is brilliantly simple: to deliver an elegantly styled turntable package featuring a level of groundbreaking technology usually only found in high-end turntables, combining plug-and-play simplicity with outstanding sound quality and affordability.
“If you feel the need for an outstanding turntable, don’t think twice,” said the What Hi-Fi? review team, describing the Concept as, “a thoroughly sorted, easy-to-own package with tremendous sound.”
Now in its third year, specialty high-end audio event Hi-Fi Show Live is rapidly becoming a highlight of the UK consumer tech calendar.
Hosted by Hi-Fi News magazine, the show took place on 24-25 October 2015 in Windsor, UK, and featured some of the very finest audio brands on the planet.
It’s that time of year again. No, not Christmas, but a feast of dreams nonetheless! Every December, Hi-Fi News & Record Review publishes its much-anticipated Yearbook, highlighting the year’s most desired, delectable and memorable audio goodies from around the globe.
Singled out as one of The Absolute Sound’s top three ‘Auspicious Debuts’ at the 2014 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, Miyajima’s newest top-of-the-range stereo cartridge, the Madake, is now available in the UK.
Earlier this year, What HiFi? magazine reviewed Danish brand Gamut’s starter £15,000 pre/power amplifier pairing, the D3i/D200i. “It impressed us so much that we decided to swap our long-serving reference Bryston amps for the Gamut combination,” said technical editor Ketan Bharadia.
“That’s not the kind of thing we do often or lightly,” he added. “The Brystons have been our reference for the best part of a decade – but it just shows how highly we rate the Gamut pairing.”
What HiFi? thought it only right that they found out a little bit more about the company, and so travelled to Denmark for a peek behind the scenes at Gamut.
