Could Exposure’s XM series of hi-fi components be the gift that just keeps on giving? “When it comes to upping the versatility and value stakes, [Exposure’s] new XM CD player is really three rather fine products in one,” says Roy Gregory, in the latest issue of Hi-Fi Plus.
The Hi-Fi Choice Yearbook is a bumper 164-page issue that celebrates the hi-fi high points of the past 12 months. The ultimate audio kit guide, it features a hand-picked selection of products that are “applauded by our team of expert reviewers for a winning combination of outstanding sound quality and value for money”. Raidho, Scansonic and Eclipse are among the applause-worthy loudspeakers, while Audio Analogue & Exposure impress in the amplifier department.
In 2017 Exposure Electronics launched the ‘XM’ series of hi-fi components, cleverly packing an impressive complement of high-end features and performance into an astonishingly compact and affordable design. Since then, the series has picked up a raft of reviews and awards, and grown to include a phonostage, an integrated amplifier, a preamplifier, mono power amps and a headphone amp. ‘Any chance of a CD player too?’ asked customers. Absolutely!
AVForums, Europe’s number one home entertainment tech community, has announced its Editor’s Choice Awards for 2018, celebrating “the hi-fi products that really shone this year”. Picking up the Award for Best Hi-Fi Amplifier is Exposure Electronics’ XM5 integrated model. Quite an achievement, particularly when you consider this little amp’s compact, half-width size.
Each year, the expert team at Hi-Fi News brings us the magazine’s audio highlights of the previous 12 months – “the hardware that turned our heads and the music that stirred our souls throughout 2018.” In the bumper 108-page Yearbook issue, “the very best that hi-fi has to offer” includes source components from DS Audio, Soulines and Timestep, amplifiers by Exposure, loudspeakers from Raidho and Magnepan and cables by Furutech.
“One of the masters of the old ways turns their attention to some new thinking – and the results are sensational,” writes Ed Selley in his review of British brand Exposure’s XM5 integrated amplifier for the audio website AVForums.
The AVTech Awards may not be the most familiar of audio gongs to your ears, but trust us, this is an award that’s worth having. Why? Because AVTech Media is the company behind three of the UK’s premium AV magazines – Hi-Fi Choice, Hi-Fi News, and Home Cinema Choice. Every month, the company tests and reviews more hi-fi, TV and home theatre equipment than any other organisation in the UK, and so its annual Awards represent a considerable achievement by the winners. What’s more, there are no long lists here, just one winner in each product category.
“If you haven’t got the right amplifier to drive your speakers, your system doesn’t stand a chance,” says Hi-Fi Choice. And to prove that the ‘right’ amplifier doesn’t have to be a stratospherically expensive one, the magazine picks out “six great designs worth checking out” from £399 to £1,990.
“Sharing the same chassis design as its 3010 series, but boasting double the clout,” Exposure’s new duo of amps replaces the former MCX series at the top end of the brand’s range. Hi-Fi News reviewer Andrew Everard is mightily impressed, finding them as convincing on detail and finesse as they are on power and grip.
British hi-fi brand Exposure’s new top-of-range 5010 series features a preamplifier and a pair of mono power amplifiers and builds on the brand’s previous flagship, the highly-regarded MCX series.
