“It is several years – back in 2012 to be precise – since we reviewed the first compact Townshend line level control based on a ‘fractal’ miniature auto-transformer wound with cryogenically-treated wire,” writes Martin Colloms in the Jan/Feb/Mar issue of HiFi Critic. This was and still is the Allegri, which is still offered in Allegri Plus form as a six input, single-winding passive volume control or ATVC. Colloms continues to use the Plus as a reference.
